One of the first things to consider is your toiletries. The small sizes {about 3oz each} can last you between 2 and 4 days, so depending on how many days you're traveling consider on bringing them with you. If you don't bring them {this is usually what I do} think about buying them when you get to your destination as they are usually priced between $1 to $2.99... checking a suitcase can cost up to $80 extra for the trip {click HERE for charges}.
Lay out in front of you all the clothes you're planning to take, this way you can have a better idea of what you really need for the trip and avoid taking duplicates of things or things you just don't need.
I am one of those who rolls her clothes and have to admit it's proven to be the best way to pack because you can create better layers of clothes and you can fill the whole much better. Another thing is that I always pack the heaviest stuff {like shoes and makeup bag} on what will be the bottom of the suitcase when standing or the wheels side... this way they will stay at the bottom and not crush anything.
Make sure to check the weather forecast of the place you're visiting, this way you take the necessary items and avoid having to buy anything extra... this will help you when choosing your makeup, accessories and shoes. Also, plan around a color palette that will match the weather and your surroundings perfectly, and for sure this will help you decide the basics and key pieces for your travel wardrobe.
Have a great day!!!
Rolling clothing is super smart - I do that whenever I pack for a Europe trip. Thanks for the tips!

ReplyDeletePS I am also a roller. Less wrinkles.

Ah packing, it's such a pain in the butt! I just keep an extra bag with my mini toiletries ready so that I don't have to rush around looking for stuff when I travel. Back in the day when I was really traveling a lot, I kept an extra set of almost everything in my suitcase--I'm not a clear thinker at 4am, ha!

Really love the vintage suitcases, too bad they are too hard to actually travel with :)
ReplyDeleteLoving the tips though.
Great post! I leave for vacation on Friday and I will use these tips! Such a good call to have a color scheme - black flip flops it is! They'll have to go with everything!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog today! I love seeing new people comment. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't traveled in a while, but my husband does on ocassion for business and I am the one who packs his stuff. Good tip on rolling stuff, I do that sometimes. The other thing I do is take his dress shirts that I've ironed, and then poke the hanger through the top of a garbage bag liner (the real light weight ones, or you could use the covers you get from the dry cleaners) It seems to keep the shirts from getting wrinkled in the suitcase.
Hope you have a lovely day!
