Today I have very little strength for anything that crawling into bed because spent the whole day working the Downtown Holiday Market in DC with my sister... and I'm exhausted.
I want to leave you today with some images from my visit to the Freer Sackler Galleries which are part of the Smithsonian Museum and feature Asian art.
My favorite pieces were all the amazing jewellery worn by Indian and South Pacific royalty. These pieces were mostly made of gold and encrusted with precious stone in intricate designs.
Civilizations from the Far East have been know through the ages as masters at the art of lacquer and inlay. Most of the pieces you can find there are small with amazing designs that today would cost a fortune because of the amount of time it would take to make the due to the super small size of the pieces.
I loved this guy at the top because I thought he looked a lot like Shrek and was reminded that once a famous pottery designer said that he takes his inspiration from antiques at museums... so, do you think our favorite ogre was inspired out of ancient Asian pottery?
Have an amazing day my friends!
Haha! He does look at Shrek! I actually took a Japanese art history class in college and loved it. Crazy how old some of that stuff is.

Gorgeous! Those necklaces in the first picture would be killer with a black turtleneck, yes? Too bad the Smithsonian would frown on that. :)
