I have always admired the great eye Scandinavians have for everything design related. Somehow they have a sense of aesthetics that people don't have because they see materials, colors and shapes as all part of the same element and not as added ingredients.
Currently at the DesignMuseum in Denmark there is an exhibit that illustrates this talent in great detail. Northern Women in Chanel is a collaboration between photographers Peter Farago and Ingela Klemetz Farago along with Chanel featuring 45 of the most famous supermodels from the Nordic and Baltic countries {all images from HERE}.
For this project each one of the models were selected to represent an aesthetic flair for fashion but also a desire to convey a sense of humanity. The end result is the touring exhibit as well as a coffee table book from which all the proceeds go to the charity Save The Children.
The outfits selected are part of the archive of Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Porter from 1920 up until today. The styling follows the artistic preferences of the photographers of opera, dance and art in a place where French fashion meets Northern beauty.
I leave you with a video of the exhibit...
Have a great and beautiful day!
