The other day my friend J {she will be reading this!} called me and asked me what would be a great date night place to go to with this new guy she's dating who's actually from out of town and will be visiting her in the next couple of weeks.
I've had some great date nights in my life but the ones that resonates the most in my mind {even though the guy was a $%^#$%} was one where we went to have dinner at the restaurant of this hotel that is located on a small residential island here in Miami.
The restaurant was on the terrace by the water so you can see the city lit up at night and reflected on the bay. Dinner was perfect having top quality sushi and lychee martinis, the night was clear and the weather was one of those perfect cool and dry nights that make you happy you live here.
My date was very romantic and even included a walk around the island {don't get me wrong you can do it in like 20 minutes} sitting on a bench overlooking the city on the other side of the bay.
So, if you were me, what would you recommend my friend to do on her first date night with a guy she really likes and who's visiting from out of town? Dinner? Movies? Picnic?

Have a great day and never stop daydreaming!
That sounds amazing! I think picnics are really fun...especially if you live somewhere with great weather!
ReplyDeleteIMO I think movie sounds great or maybe picnic if the weather seems friendly.. :)
ReplyDeleteI need vacation after seeing these photos, haha! Heavenly!

Dinner and movies! :-)
ReplyDeleteOMG! That first photo looks amazing, I would love a date night like that so so so romantic.
ReplyDeleteThat first place would be an amazing date. Dinner and movies is always a good place to start. The movies give good conversation and then it can be talked about over dinner.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, really nice places to have dinner with someone!
ReplyDeleteI would sugest picnic or maybe go in a bar where they can play pool!
Wow - such fabulous images.
ReplyDeletewould LOVE to do date night in that first image!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be the perfect date night. I love the lights.

Eating alfresco, weather permitted. I think it's more laid back but romantic. And a fun spot for drinks...everyone needs to loosen up!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds utterly romantical. Great date suggestion
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the perfect date!!! Maybe she can recreate it :) xoxo
ReplyDeletePerfect date! I still haven't tried the picnic date, xoxo
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good date! And so curious, where in Miami is this? I want to check it out!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures and sounds like the perfect evening (sans guy). I always like dates where there is lots of time to talk so a picnic or dinner where there is a place nearby to stroll seem ideal to me.
ReplyDeletewow, those are really amazing! i wish someone would take me on a date like those eheh
ReplyDeleteThose photos are beautiful!! I'd skip a movie... that can be done anytime and won't allow for face time. If I were her, I'd probably do an afternoon/evening picnic on the beach! It'll be quiet and pretty and when the sun goes down, they'll feel like they're completely alone in the world. =)
ReplyDeleteDrinks, dinner, maybe going someplace with live music (nothing too crazy - something chill) so they can just hang out and talk in a fun environment. Hope she has an amazing time!

Your date sounds so perfect! Too bad the guy wasn't. Any date with lots of fun is a perfect date for me. How about cooking lessons?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds absolutely incredible!!! I haven't dated in a million years, so take my advice with a grain of salt... but I love the idea of a low key, intimate setting and {from what I have gathered from my guy and our guy friends} I think guys like to feel "taken care of" just as much as we do... I would suggest that she packs a nice spread of cheeses, olives, bread, salami, prociutto, etc...and wine for an evening picnic on the beach :) XO brynn
ReplyDeletethis sounds like such a sweet date night! hope it turns out well for your friend :-)

I'm sorry the guy was such a jerk, but your perfect date sounds wonderful! I'm a bit bias toward picnics of all kinds. Chris and I always find every excuse imaginable to have picnics together-they're our absolute favorite.
ReplyDeleteI guess even asses have excellent taste in restaurants! I remember my first trip to Miami, I was blown away by Nobu and the Shore Club–I didn't want to leave!
ReplyDeleteWell, I certainly think your friend has ample inspiration from these photos. I love the idea of a candlelit dinner on the beach. That would be wildly romantic and relaxing -- and it doesn't even need to be incredibly fancy.
ReplyDeletewho could resist dates like these? amazing.
ReplyDeleteSome of the best dates I've ever had were spent just walking around and talking. The beginning is the most exciting part of a budding relationship, so I suggest picking a mellow place to eat somewhere where you can walk around after and if things go well continue the evening at a dimly lit wine bar...but that's just me :) My first date with my now husband was pretty much what i just described...

I like the idea of a long dinner someplace with a beautiful view...your idea is pretty much perfect! I think it's important to pick a place that's not too stuffy because then nobody feels like themselves. xx
ReplyDeleteThe venue you've described sounds divine, so romantic and memorable. I think an intimate dinner in a beautiful location (be it a fancy restaurant or moonlit beach picnic) with a fabulous view is a good date idea.
ReplyDeleteWow, that hotel on the island looks absolutely perfect! We go on date nights every Saturday and I have to say its a pleasure just driving around the corners sans kids!!!
ReplyDeletemy best date ever....and i swear it has NOTHING to do with the fact that i ended up falling in love and marrying the guy, was my first date with my husband.
ReplyDeleteit was a blind date, set up {insert vomit sound here}.
but i was so over dating, and the typical newport jerk guy who took me to the hot restaurant at the cannery for the token "romantic" view, wine on the deck, blah, blah setting the contrived scene....but i was ready for it nevertheless.
instead my {cut to 6 years later husband} took me to a super dirty, drinks good, pizza greasy, nachos cheesy, let's just have good conversation, dive bar.
i was done.
best date ever!
Your date sounds amazing (other than the guy being a jerk)! These pictures are so pretty!

I'd say a ocean or beach side location is always wonderful. Makes for a romantic start of the evening no matter what happens.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Easter. xx
I'd vote for a intimate picnic on the beach at sunset (if I was lucky enough to live close to one.)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, it's like a dream!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!! Your date suggestions sounds so fun! You friend should definitely take her guy on this date!
