Last week for me was one of those when you are questioned time and time again where your career is going and where do you see yourself in 5 years... We all have several interests and many times we pursue them beyond our occupations and sometimes they take us on to a whole new path.
At some point during those long hours of whatever job we do, we have all wondered if those jobs we think as being so cool are really all they seem to be... I do have to say that being an interior designer has always been fun but we spend more time managing our projects that we do selecting fabrics or pretty things.
So, if you had a second chance to pursue a different career, which one would it be?
I would like to be a ballerina or a surfer girl!
Have a great week... we are back to regular blogging schedule over here!
:) I would like to be working at a museum or photographing exotic places :) Hope you have a great week :) x
ReplyDeleteI´d be an interior designer/photographer. I´d love to do that full time instead of just in my own home (and on my blog)..! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd probably be a writer/photographer traveling the world and writing about my experiences . . .
ReplyDeleteStunning!

If (yes, there's always an 'if' - that's why i have a day job) money was no object, I'd be a portrait painter and photographer. Who knows, maybe when I'm old and grey... ;-) Have a great day xo
ReplyDeleteI have personally applied for an Architecture course. If I love it I can see myself going back to my book-worm ways and sticking another 5 years in school :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I have had so many of those days and these thoughts. I love what I studied - i.e Journalism and Fashion Marketing but whats sad is that the job opportunities here in SA for both these is pretty dismal :(
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about this a lot now. I started a new job in tourism this year. Something I have dreamt about. Some days I love it. Other days my head is lost. But I plan to fulfill all my dreams so I won´t regret anything in the end ;)
ReplyDeleteOhh, if income was not an issue I would have a flower shop and be a full time writer/blogger.
ReplyDeleteBut I must say I am quite happy in the flexible work that I have.
Have a wonderful week. xxx
I would love to be an interior designer, no joke!
ReplyDeleteI would have loved to be a set designer or cinematographer.
ReplyDeleteAlso, to own a little breakfast/lunch cafe.
Writer, for sure. And professional equestrienne. Please. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda working toward my ideal career, but the ones that passed me by? Physicist, teacher, baker (maybe someday), actress, singer... I really just want to do it all.
ReplyDeleteI love what I do but I would also love to be a writer or a crazy powerful business person. I love making tough decisions and I love traveling.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely want to be involved in fashion in some way...I'm actually on my way to my second career now so this was very timely. Hope you have a wonderful week! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely in the place where I need to make a decision on where I'm going next in my life! I definitely have wayyy wayy wayy to many interests! lol

A Clothing Designer or a dancer.
ReplyDeleteI have been having an age crisis ever since I turned 30 and I have been wondering this exact question. I would be a zoologist or a fashion stylist...one I am still working on pursuing. Eeks! Great topic! xoxo Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteA surfer girl sounds awesome, if only I wasn't so afraid of the ocean.
ReplyDeleteHHhmmm......I'm not sure....I think maybe an actress...a well-known, well-paid, one haha!
I would love to be an actress or writer or a makeup artist to the stars!! :-)

Oh my goodness, if I wasn't deathly afraid of surfing, I would love to be a surfer girl too! I'm obsessed with anything Roxy brand!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd be a photographer for National Geographic and jetting off to exotic locations every week!
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy being an interior designer but I would love to work on fantastic projects with great clients instead of whatever comes along at work.
ReplyDeleteI want to be a ballerina too!
ReplyDeleteBut since that isn't too likely, I'm pursuing some other dreams. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that dreams of what they want to be "when they grow up." ;)
#jobsearch2012 -- That's my current adventure. I have no idea where I will be in 5 years. I don't even know where I will be in a year!

Maybe a stay at home mum :) But leaving that I can't really think of anything else I'd rather be doing then what I'm doing right now...
ReplyDeleteSomething must be in the air because I have been thinking about this so much lately. I fell like at a certain point in your life the fears you used to have are just not as scary anymore. You just know that if you dont succeed right away you will survive and just start over...

I would like to work for a travel magazine!! :D
ReplyDeleteI started as a designer, then merged into tailoring and manufacturing. But, If I would do anything else I'd probably go forward leaning toward publishing (fashion magazine) or something similar ... I have much passion in that area. Otherwise, I would have just stayed as a concert violinist I suppose. Interesting post. -xxoo
ReplyDeletehmmmmm....
ReplyDeletewhat a great post!
that's exactly what i am pondering at the moment.
i have been in the interior design industry for 30 years
and it has changed so much....where i live it is pretty DEAD.
...i am sure i would go in to graphic design, and web design.
thank you
xx:)
hmmm. i think i'd like to be a photo-journalist.
ReplyDeletei've done the actress thing...i thought that WAS my life long, have-to, dreams come true career path, but i just felt so unfulfilled and sad.
i actually love what i do now....fitness instructor. although exhausting, every single hour is different and requires me to be creative. i see the results of my work immediately in the faces and sweat of my clients and students. i'm truly fulfilled.
