The images from the destruction left by Sandy in the Caribbean and North East US are simply devastating. Millions of people are suffering from a lack of food, potable water and shelter. But there is hope because we all can do something to help those in need.
This week's links are dedicated to spreading the word on how we can help these people.
Red Cross: like always the Red Cross is helping and on the ground. They are providing people with ready made meals, shelter and water. If you are in the US, you can text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. If you are anywhere in the world, go to www.IFRC.org which is the international website.
Water 4 Waves: this initiative by the surfing community is taking donations to bring potable water to people in NY and NJ.
The Salvation Army: They are also on the ground assisting the victims with all their needs including cousaling. If you are in the US, you can text STORM to 80888 for a $10 donation. Internationally you can go to http://www.salvationarmy.org/ to find out how you can donate.
Doctors Without Borders: I really like this organization because $0.86 of every dollar you donate goes directly to the people in need. Donate HERE.
World Vision: in these cases children are most vulnerable, especially in places like Haiti where conditions after the hurricane have worsened, and in the NE where the weather is getting colder. Donate HERE
Humane Society: it is amazing how many animals suffer or are abandoned when disasters happen. Donate HERE
Have a great weekend and be thankful for what you have!
